16th June 2011

Today is a 25th Anniversary of my escape from then communist Poland. It's been very eventful quarter of a century, years that made me who I am.

There were some people who made me see more than I had the perception to see myself, I'm grateful to them for being a part of my life however brief those parts may have been.

I would like to thank the most important ones;

My school Friend Marta Cygan-Piwonska back in 1985/86, by studying with me and simply saying few positive things about my ability to learn and achieve made a tremendous impact on my self- belief.

Alyson Rudd, in 1992/93 saw more potential in me than every other person present at that time in my life. That has changed my perception of me. Alyson is a football journalist now, working for The Times. She too followed her passion and destiny.

Guy Marriott back in 2007, who by asking me to be his coach and mentor completely changed the path of my life, making me realise what my passion and destiny and purpose are.

It seems with time the changes became bigger and bolder. True freedom is only achieved once we follow the path of our purpose.

The poem by Flavia Weedn describes the feeling;

Some People
By Flavia Weedn
Some people come into our lives
and leave footprints on our hearts
and we are never ever the same.
Some people come into our lives
and quickly go...Some stay for a while
and embrace our silent dreams.
They help us become aware
of the delicate winds of hope...
and we discover within every human spirit
there are wings yearning to fly.
They help our hearts to see that
the only stairway to the stars
is woven with dreams...
and we find ourselves
unafraid to reach high.
They celebrate the true essence
of who we are...
and have faith in all
that we may become.
Some people awaken us
to new and deeper realizations...
for we gain insight
from the passing whisper of their wisdom.
Throughout our lives we are sent
precious souls...
meant to share our journey
however brief or lasting their stay
they remind us why we are here.
To learn...to teach...to nurture...to love.
Some people come into our lives
to cast a steady light
upon our path and guide our every step
their shining belief in us
helps us to believe in ourselves.
Some people come into our
lives to teach us about love...
The love that rests within ourselves.
Let us reach out to others
and feel the bliss of giving
for love is far richer in action
than it ever is in words.
Some people come into our lives
and they move our souls to sing
and make our spirits dance.
They help us to see that everything on earth
is part of the incredibility of life...
and that it is always there
for us to take of its joy.
Some people come into our lives
and leave footprints on our hearts
and we are never ever the same.
